What are your gifts? Moms with Passion is a group that is devoted to encouraging Christians, specifically mothers, recognize and pursue their passions. In today's world there are so many demands on our time it is easy to put ourselves at the bottom of the "to do" list. And while it is admirable and important to maintain a spirit of humility, we are also called to be obedient to God's will.
What is God calling you to pursue? Maybe he wants you to pick up a pen or a paintbrush and use your imagination. Perhaps he is asking you to stand up for someone or some cause that could use a strong voice. Is it a career in medicine, engineering, or business? Is it caring for your family?
Your calling is just that: your calling. No one can tell you what that is or how to pursue it except for the Holy Spirit. You may get paid for it, you might not. You may interact and reach many people, you may just touch one. That is the amazing thing about God: no matter what it is or who it reaches...it matters. And the most important quality is obedience to his will. Today is your day. "With God all things are possible..."
The Birth of MWP
The day my son was born was one of the most miraculous days of my life. The first time our eyes locked I felt a love so deep it was overwhelming. And through the ups and downs of learning what "motherhood" is all about I found myself in a constant state of amazement. This little baby boy was my son. I was a mother. It felt wonderful and scary at the same time.
My husband and I agreed that I would stay at home. I didn't want to miss any of his life events, and we were fortunate that financially it was an option for us. But within a few months I had a gnawing feeling that something was missing. I pushed it away and felt an incredible amount of guilt for even thinking that being at home might not be "enough". It wouldn't go away, and in fact, the sense that I had a life purpose beyond being a wife and mother intensified.
Since I was a young girl I have always loved to write. I am a better person when I can jot my thoughts on paper. I knew I needed to incorporate this passion into my life on a regular basis, even if it sacrificed a bit of time here and there from my family. I needed to override the guilt and be obedient to use the passions God has placed on my heart.
After talking with other mothers who felt similarly, I decided to start a newsletter for other "moms with passion". Whether it is writing, painting, singing, pursuing a career, scrapbooking, ministering, connecting, volunteering and on and on, we all have unique gifts to give the world. God wants us, as mothers, to remember them and use them to bless others. This is the purpose of the newsletter (which you can find past issues through the tab on the left) and this website.
So, I invite you to prayerfully search your heart and join the pact: to passionately pursue your unique calling and invest the gifts God has given you. Imagine a world where mothers followed their hearts in all areas? Miraculous things will happen.
Blessings and Peace to you!
